A mixture of 2-amino-4-chloro-7-(2-C-methyl-β-D-ribofuranosyl)-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyrimidine (Example 118, Step B) (20 mg, 0.07 mmol) in EtOH (1.0 mL), pyridine (0.1 mL) and 10% Pd/C (6 mg) under H2 (atmospheric pressure) was stirred overnight at room temperature. The mixture was filtered through a Celite pad which was thoroughly washed with EtOH. The combined filtrate was evaporated and purified on a silica gel column with CH2Cl2/MeOH, 20/1 and 10/1, as eluent to give the title compound as a white solid (16 mg).
