Procedure

This compound was made from 1-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-phenylpropene (13). and BBr3. in 63% yield by the same procedure as described in example 1(c). 1HNMR (CD3C(O)CD3, ppm): δ 2.21 (d, J=1.5 Hz, 3H), 6.23 (t, J=2.2 Hz, 1H), 6.36 (d, J=2.2Hz, 2H), 6.68 (m, 1H), 7.2-7.6 (m, 5H).
