To a solution of [1-(2,3-dihydrobenzo[1,4]dioxin-2-ylmethyl)-3-methylpiperidin-3-yl]methanol (0.92 g, 3.31 mmol) in DCM (40 ml) at 0° C. was added methanesulfonyl chloride (0.51 ml). The reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 12 h. The reaction mixture was made basic with 2 M NaOH and then extracted with DCM (3×20 ml). The combined organic phases were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to give the title compound.
