To a solution of 1-(2-((1-(quinolin-2-yl)piperidin-4-yl)oxy)pyridin-3-yl)piperidine-4-carbonitrile (290 mg, 0.70 mol) in 20 mL of THF was added DIBAL-H (1.4 mol, 1 M in toluene) dropwise at −65° C. The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at RT and then quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl. The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc (2×20 mL) and the combined organic layers were dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to give the product (0.232 g, 0.56 mmol, 80% yield).
