Reaction Steps

To a solution of benzyl (3S*,4R*)-1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-4-((E)-2-(methoxycarbonyl)vinyl)pyrrolidin-3-ylcarbamate (1.0 g, 2.47 mmol) in 100 mL THF, LiBH4 was added (0.2 g, 9.0 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at reflux for 9 hours. The mixture was quenched with H2O, extracted with EtOAc, the combined organic extracts were dried with Na2SO4 and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with 10→50% EtOAc in hexane giving the title compound.
