Reaction Steps
4-[2-(Piperidin-3-yloxy)-phenyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (Preparation 49A, Step 2) (340 mg, 0.94 mmol) was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (15 mL) under nitrogen and cooled to 0° C. Isobutyryl chloride (0.29 mL, 2.82 mmol) was added followed by dropwise addition of triethylamine (0.52 mL, 3.76 mmol). The mixture was warmed to r.t. and stirred for about 16 hours. Methylene chloride (20 mL) was added, and the solution was washed with saturated NaHCO3 (20 mL)and brine (20 mL), and then dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvents were removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel, eluting with ethyl acetate/hexanes (1:1), to afford the final compound as a white solid (322 mg, 80%). TLC (SiO2): Rf=0.42 (1:1 ethyl acetate/hexanes)
