Methyl (1R*,3R*,4S*)-3-azido-4-(N-tert-butoxycarbonylamino)cyclohexane-1-carboxylate (230 mg) was dissolved in ethyl acetate (8 ml), and a catalytic amount of 10% palladium on carbon was added to stir the mixture at room temperature for 20 hours in a hydrogen atmosphere. Insoluble matter was removed by filtration, and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (220 mg) as a pale yellow oil.
