In 15 ml of dioxane, 117 mg (0.2 mmol) of methyl {8-fluoro-2-[4-(3-fluorophenyl)-1-piperazinyl]-3-[2-methoxy-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3,4-dihydro-4-quinazolinyl}acetate (Example 34A) are mixed with 0.61 ml of 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, and the mixture is stirred at 50° C. for 3 hours. After removal of the solvent, the residue is taken up in water and the mixture is adjusted to pH 34 using 1N hydrochloric acid. The precipitate is filtered off with suction, washed with water and dried under reduced pressure.
