30 ml. of liquid ammonia are added to 4.4 g. of 4-(4-n-heptylpyrimid-2-yl)-benzoic acid ethyl ester, dissolved in 50 ml. of a methanol-dichloromethane (1:1) mixture, in an autoclave and the mixture is then warmed to 90° for 5 hours (pressure: 16 atmospheres absolute). The reaction mixture is evaporated to dryness and the more sparingly soluble amide is separated from unreacted educt, whereby 4-(4-n-heptylpyrimid-2-yl)-benzoic acid amide is obtained.
