To perbenzoic acid in chloroform prepared from 65.5 g of benzoylperoxide was added 1.45 g of p-allylpropylbenzene and the mixture was allowed to stand at 5° C for 6 days. After the completion of the reaction, the mixture was washed with 2% sodium hydroxide solution, water, Mohr's salt solution, then water, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated to obtain the residue, which was distilled under reduced pressure to give 12.1 g (yield 76%) of p-n-propylallylbenzene oxide as colourless liquid.
