Procedure
By the Method of Example 1 (c) 32 parts of 5-(2-hydroxy propoxy)-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-2-carboxylic acid, ethyl ester were treated with ethanolic ammonia to give 23.3 parts of 5-(2-hydroxy propoxy)-4-oxo-4H-1-benzopyran-2-carboxamide, which crystallised from a mixture of ethanol and chloroform as a white solid, melting point 229°-231° C.
