Procedure
A solution of 19.1 g of (0.09 mol) 3-chloropropyl phosphorodichloridate in 25 mL of CH2Cl2 was added to a solution of 10 g of (0.59 mol) NH3 in 150 mL of CH2Cl2 at -15° to -30° C. After the addition, the mixture was allowed to warm slowly to room temperature, while the excess NH3 vented. Filtering gave 24.9 g of crude material consisting of the desired product and NH4Cl (theoretical yield 25.2 g). Pure 3-chloropropyl phosphorodiamidate was obtained by extraction with methylene chloride. The 3-chloropropyl phosphorodiamidate product after drying over P2O5 had mp 111°-112° C.
