A solution of 1-[3-(1-piperidinylmethyl)phenoxy]-3-[(1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridin-3-yl)amino]-2-propanol (252 mg) in absolute ethanol (25 ml) was hydrogenated over a 5% platinium on carbon catalyst (150 mg). After 8 h, additional catalyst (200 mg) was added and the mixture was hydrogenated for a further 8 h. The mixture was filtered through hyflo and the filtrate was evaporated to give a white solid which was recrystallised from ethyl acetate-methanol to give the title compound (182 mg) as white microcrystals, m.p. 141°-2°.
