Reaction Steps

To a solution of 3,4-dihydro-4-imino-3-allyl-2(1H)-quinazolinone (0.5 g, 2.5 mmol) in dimethylsulfoxide (2.5 mL) and water (1 mL) was added N-bromosuccinimide (0.87 g, 5.0 mmol). The mixture was allowed to stir at room temperature and then was quenched with water (100 mL) to get solid. The solid was collected by filtration and washed with water to give 2-bromomethyl-2,3-dihydroimidazo[1,2-c]quinazolin-5(6H)-one (450 mg, 64%).
