4-[2-(7-Ethyl-2,7-diaza-spiro[4.4]non-2-yl)-ethyl]-phenylamine from above was dissolved in dichloromethane to which was added diisopropylamine (1 ml) and the reaction was cooled in an ice bath. A solution of 4-Fluoro-3-nitro-benzoyl chloride (0.5 N, 8 ml) was added and the reaction stirred for 1 h then evaporated under reduced pressure to a yellow foam which was used as is in the next step.
