Reaction Steps

1N sodium hydroxide solution (0.19 ml, 0.19 mmol) was added to a methanol (4 ml) solution of the compound (81 mg, 0.13 mmol) obtained in Step 4 above and the resulting mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was neutralized by addition of 1N hydrochloric acid and then the resulting mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. Dichloromethane (4 ml) was added to the residue, then methylamine hydrochloride (26 mg, 0.39 mmol), triethylamine (0.11 ml, 0.77 mmol), and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride (74 mg, 0.39 mmol) were added and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. Saturated sodium bicarbonate solution was added to the reaction mixture, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine and then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and then the residue was purified by NH-silica gel column chromatography [methanol:ethyl acetate=5:95 (v/v)] to give 42 mg (52%) of the title compound as a colorless solid.
