Reaction Steps
1N sodium hydroxide solution (3 ml) was added to a methanol (10 ml) solution of the compound (1.00 g, 1.58 mmol) obtained in Example 173 and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. 1N hydrochloric acid was added to the reaction mixture to adjust its pH to approximately 6 to 7, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give 577 mg (60%) of the title compound as a solid.
