To a solution of (S)-2-methyl-1-(4-nitro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyrrolidine (12.0 g, 43.68 mmol) in methanol (75 mL) was added 10% Pd/C (1.2 g). The reaction was stirred under H2 atmosphere for 16 h. The mixture was filtered through a pad of Celite and concentrated. Purification by silica gel chromatography (0-100% ethyl acetate/hexanes) provided (S)-4-(2-methylpyrrolidin-1-yl)-2-(trifluoromethyl)aniline as a brown oil (10.5 g, 98% yield). LC/MS m/z 245.1 [M+H]+.
