Procedure

methyl{[(2R)-2,3-dihydro-1H-indol-2-ylcarbonyl]amino}acetate (390 mg) was mixed with 100 mg of NaOMe in 5 mL of Ethanol. The mixture was refluxed for 2 hours and cooled to RT. The crude material was purified by flash chromatography to give the desired (10aR)-2,3, 10,10a-tetrahydropyrazino[1,2-a]indole-1,4-dione.
