A mixture of 3-[(S)-1-(4-furan-3-yl-phenyl)-ethyl]-(S)-6-(2-hydroxy-2-methyl-propyl)-6-phenyl-[1,3]oxazinan-2-one (0.12 g), PtO2 (50 mg), and ethanol (15 mL) was shaken under hydrogen atmosphere (3 bar) at room temperature for 4 h. Then, the catalyst was separated by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate 80:20->0:100) to afford the title compound.
