tert-Butyl 4-oxoazepane-1-carboxylate (1.7 g, 8.1 mmol) was added to a solution of 2-bromo-6-hydrazinylpyridine (1.5 g, 8.1 mmol) in Et2O (27 mL), and the resulting solution was stirred at ambient temperature for 1.5 h. The solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the title compound (3.1 g, 99%) as a light orange solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 9.89-9.68 (m, 1H), 7.50-7.45 (m, 1H), 7.04-7.01 (m, 1H), 6.89-6.85 (m, 1H), 3.48-3.28 (m, 4H), 2.59-2.50 (m, 4H, overlaps with H2O), 1.69-1.53 (m, 2H), 1.38-1.36 (m, 9H).
