Procedure
A mixture of 2.69 g (0.01 mol) of α-(4-piperidinyl)-α-(2-pyridinyl)-2-pyridinemethanol, 1.6 g (0.01 mol) of 5-(2-chloroethyl)-3-methyl-2-oxazolidinone, 3.7 g (0.035 mol) of anhydrous sodium carbonate and 0.1 g of potassium iodide in 100 mL of 1-butanol is heated at reflux for 16 hr. The mixture is concentrated and the residue is partitioned between benzene and water. The organic layer is washed with water and brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give the title compound.
