Procedure

5 g of N-[2,6-dimethyl-4-(4-trifluoromethylthiazol-2-yloxy)phenyl]-N'-tert-butylthiourea are heated in 30 ml of ethanol and 2.1 g of iodomethane for 5 hours to 50° C. The alcohol is subsequently removed by evaporation and the residue is taken up in methylene chloride. The methylene chloride solution is washed twice with dilute sodium carbonate solution and dried over sodium sulfate. The solvent is removed by evaporation and the residue is recrystallised from hexane, affording the title compound of formula ##STR35## with a melting point of 88°-90° C. (compound 4.01).
