Reaction Steps

Using the procedure of Step C of Example 1, 0.432 g of the product of Step B of Example 1, 0.567 g of 5-phenyl-2-thiophene-acetic acid and 0.422 g of carbonyldiimidazole were reacted to obtain 0.571 g of trans-(±) N-[2,3-dihydro-2-(1-pyrrolidinyl)-1H-inden-1-yl]-N-methyl-5-phenyl-2-thiophene-acetamide and then 0.457 g of its hydrochloride melting at ≃ 249° C.
