A mixture of 10 parts of N6 -[2-[4-[[1-[(4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]amino]-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-3-nitro-2,6-pyridinediamine, 3 parts of a solution of thiophene in methanol 4% and 400 parts of methanol, saturated with ammonia was hydrogenated at normal pressure and at room temperature with 4 parts of palladium-on-charcoal catalyst 10%. After the calculated amount of hydrogen was taken up, the catalyst was filtered off and the filtrate was evaporated, yielding 9 parts (94%) of N6 -[2-[4-[[1-[(4-fluorophenyl)methyl]-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]amino]-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-2,3,6-pyridinetriamine as a residue (intermediate 154).
