Reaction Steps
The compound of Example 3 (12.3 g) was dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid, and this was mixed with fuming nitric acid (1.95 ml) under ice-cooling and then stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. The reaction solution was poured into ice water and neutralized by adding saturated NH3 aqueous solution, and then the thus formed precipitate was collected by filtration. The thus collected crude crystals were washed with hot MeOH to obtain the title compound (12.7 g).
