Procedure
To 4.0 g (10 mmole) of N-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-(N-methylamino)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-1-carboxamide (Example 116) in 100 ml of methylene chloride was added 10 ml of 1.0M aqueous NaOH and 1.2 g (11.3 mmole) of cyanogen bromide dissolved in 5 ml of methylene chloride. After stirring overnight, the organic layer was separated, concentrated in vacuo, and triturated with diethyl ether to yield the title compound, a white solid, mp 216°-217° C.
