2-Propylthiazolo[4,5-c]quinolin-4-amine (1.0 g, 0.41 mmol) was combined with acetic acid (15 mL) and heated to 60° C. Bromine (0.10 mL, 1.94 mmol) was added dropwise and the reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with water and the resulting precipitate was isolated by filtration to provide 0.25 g of 8-bromo-2-propylthiazolo[4,5-c]quinolin-4-amine as a yellow solid, m.p. 177-180° C. Analysis: Calculated for C13H12BrN3S: %C, 48.46; %H, 3.75; %N, 13.04; Found: %C, 47.98; %H, 3.95; %N, 12.70.
