Procedure
A mixture of 4-(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-1,2-dinitrobenzene (2.15 g), α-amino-(n-propyl)methylphosphinic acid (1.63 g), K2CO3 (1.64 g) and DMSO (10 ml) is stirred at RT for one week and then poured into water and extracted with ether. The aqueous solution is acidified with dilute HCl and extracted with ether. The combined extracts are dried and evaporated to dryness to give the aminophosphinic acid (XVI; R is NO2, R1 is Me, R2 is H, R6 is Et, R5 is H, Y is Cl, Z is CF3). The aminophosphinic acid is reacted with neohexyl bromoacetate in 2-butanone under reflux to give neohexyl aminophosphinate (Compound 1, Table H).
