To N-t-butyloxycarbonyl-glycyl-L-proline benzylester (25.7 g, 68.2 m mole) 4N hydrogen chloride dioxane solution (170 ml) was added and the solid material was dissolved. The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to obtain a half-solid glycyl-L-proline benzylester hydrochloride (20.2 g, 64.8 m mole, yield: 95%).
