Reaction Steps
A solution of 3-azido-1-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-1,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-1-benzazonin-2one (5.0 g) in ethanol (500 ml) is hydrogenated at atmospheric pressure using 10% palladium on charcoal (0.7 g) as catalyst. The catalyst is filered off and the solvent removed under reduced pressure to give 3-amino-1-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-1,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydro-1-benzazonin-2-one.
