Reaction Steps

The 1-benzyl-4-[4-(4-pyrrolidinobenzoyl)butyl]-piperidine (0.5 g) prepared in 5) was treated with one equivalent of fumaric acid (0.14 g) and the reaction product was crystallized from ethanol to give 0.6 g of 1-benzyl-4-[4-(4-pyrrolidinobenzoyl)butyl]piperidine fumarate as colorless crystals melting at 183°-185° C.
