A mixture of 2-methoxycarbonylamino-3-(4-nitro-naphthalen-1-yl)-propionic acid 2-trimethylsilanyl-ethyl ester (1.1 g, 2.64 mmol), 10% palladium on C (0.056 g) in methanol (5 mL) was stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen for 4 hours. The mixture was filtered through diatomaceous earth and the filter cake washed with methanol (2×25 mL). The combined methanol was concentrated under reduced pressure to provide the titled compound. MS (ESI(+)) m/e 389 (M+H)+.
