Sodium hydroxide (0.43 g, 10.8 mmol) was added to a solution of Intermediate 51 in ethanol (10 ml, 95%). The reaction mixture was heated at 50° C. for 18 hours. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue dissolved in water and acidified to pH 3 by the addition of aqueous hydrochloric acid. The solution was extracted with DCM. The organic phase was separated using a hydrophobic frit (Whatman PTFE Folter Media with Polypropylene Housing 5 μM pore size) and the solvent evaporated in vacuo to give Intermediate 52 as a white solid (0.65 g). LCMS showed MH+=305; TRET=1.97 min.
