To a solution of thionyl chloride (2.0 mL) and 2 drops of DMF in DCM stirring under nitrogen at RT is added the title compound of Example 3, 1-ethyl-3-{4-[5-methyl-2-phenyl-oxazol-4-ylmethoxy]-benzenesulfonylamino}-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid (0.8 g, 1.65 mmol) in one portion. The resulting suspension is stirred for 16 h. The solution is concentrated and the resulting residue is azeotrophed twice with toluene. It is used as such without any additional purification.
