Procedure
A 3.3 mL (1 mmol) aliquot of the product from Example 161B in 8.33 mL of acetonitrile was transferred to a separate flask. Mono-(L)-tartaric acid salt of (R)-2-methylpyrrolidine (0.82 g, 3.5 mmol) was converted to the free base by shaking with 1 mL of toluene, 0.5 mL of 50% wt/vol sodium hydroxide, and 2 mL of brine. After separating, the toluene layer was decanted by pipette and added to the 3.3 mL aliquot of the product from Example 16 1B. After stirring for one week at room temperature, the reaction was poured into dichloromethane and washed with aqueous ammonia, dried over sodium sulfate, and purified by flash chromatography, eluting with 97:3 dichloromethane/methanol/0.1% NH3, to give 225 mg (69%) of the title compound as a clear oil. MS (DCI) m/z 325.2 (M+H)+; 1HNMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.18 (d, 1H, J=6.3 Hz), 2.24 (s, 3H), 2.40 (s, 3H), 1.5-2.0 (m, 6H), 2.5 (m, 1H), 3.02 (t, 2H, J=7.5 Hz), 3.23 (m, 2H), 6.48 (s, 1H), 7.08 (dd, 1H, J=9.0, 2.1 Hz), 7.34 (d, 1H, J=2.1 Hz), 7.44 (d, 1H, 9.0 Hz).
