Reaction Steps

To a solution of 4-(7-methoxy-benzofuran-3-yl)-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.50 g, 1.5 mmol) in methylene chloride (10 mL), was added dropwise a solution of TFA (1 mL) in methylene chloride (5 mL). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for one hour, then was diluted with 250 mL of methylene chloride, washed with 1N NaOH (100 mL) and with saturated brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuum to give 0.30 g of the title compound. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3); δ 2.5 (t, 2H), 3.19 (t, 2H), 3.64 (dd, 2H), 4.01 (s, 3H), 6.30 (br s, 1H), 7.10 (d, 1H), 7.21 (t, 1H), 7.52 (d, 1H), 7.64 (s, 1H); MS (ES) m/z (relative intensity): 230 (M+H, 100).
