p-iodobenzoic acid (500 mg, 2.02 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (30 ml), to which was added 2M trimethylsilyl diazomethane/hexane solution (13 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to yield a crude product (500 mg) of the title compound. This was used as a raw material in the subsequent reaction without purification.
