In a round-bottomed flask, 0.65 g (3.1 mmol) of the alcohol 11 was dissolved in dichloromethane. To this solution was added an excess of manganese oxide. The suspension was heated to reflux overnight. The mixture was cooled and filtered through Celite. The filtrate was evaporated in vacuo to afford 0.61 g (85%) of 12 as a yellow oil.
