Reaction Steps

Prepared according to Procedure B with 1i (2.0 g, 6.20 mmol) and chloroacetyl chloride (1.5 mL, 18.6 mmol) in acetic acid (30 mL). Purified by chromatography in CH2Cl21 followed by recrystallization from isopropanol to afford 1.44 g of an off-white solid (61%). 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ: 7.61-7.64 (m, 1H); 7.58-7.59 (m, 1H); 7.54-7.57 (m, 2H); 7.52-7.53 (m, 1H); 7.45-7.52 (m, 2H); 7.24 (s, 5H); 3.92-4.03 (m, 2H). MS (ES): m/z 381.0 (M+).
