Procedure
A suspension of 6,7-difluoro-3-methyl-1-(2-pyridinyl)-1,9-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolin-4-one (20.00 g, 64 mmol) in ethanol (200 mL) and water (200 mL) was heated under reflux for 6 hours. The suspension was allowed to cool to room temperature, and the resulting crystals were collected by filtration. The crystals were washed with water and air dried to give the title compound (20.77 g, 98% yield).
