To a suspension of 518 mg (1.72 mmol) of 1-(5-tert-butyl-2-methyl-2H-pyrazol-3-yl)-3-(4-hydroxymethyl-phenyl)-urea in methylene chloride (25 mL) is added 2.7 g of MnO2. The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. Then the mixture is filtered over Celite® and evaporated to obtain 353 mg (1.2 mmol, 68%) of the title compound as a white solid.
