A mixture of 5-bromopyrimidin-2-amine (3.3 g, 19 mmol), (3-fluoro-4-hydroxyphenyl)boronic acid (2.7 g, 17 mmol), tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (0.6 g, 0.5 mmol), sodium carbonate (18.3 g, 172 mmol) in ethanol (15 mL), water (5 mL) and toluene (15 mL) was heated at 120° C. for 3 h. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure. The residue was diluted with EtOAc, washed with water and brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated to obtain the desired product which was directly used in the next step.
