This compound was prepared by reduction of 5-nitro-2-propyloxybenzaldehyde using a method similar to that described for preparing 2-hydroxymethyl-4-nitrophenol in 93% yield: MP (No Sample left for MP); 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) 8.22 (d, 1H, J=2.6 Hz), 8.13 (dd, 1H, J=2.9 and 9.2 Hz), 7.14 (d, 1H, J=9.2 Hz), 5.41 (t, 1H, J=5.5 Hz), 4.52 (d, 2H, J=5.8 Hz), 4.08 (t, 2H, J=6.2), 1.75 (m, 2H), 0.98 (t, 3H, J=7.6 Hz).
