0.235 of trimethyl oxonium tetrafluoroborate was added to a 20-ml dichloromethane solution of 0.58 g of t-butyl 4-[1-(2-butynyl)-5-ethoxycarbonyl-4-thiocarbamoyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl]piperazine-1-carboxylate, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. 50 ml of dichloromethane was added to the solution, and the mixture was washed with 20 ml of a saturated sodium bicarbonate solution. The mixture was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 0.55 g of the title compound.
