A mixture consisting of 8 mg of t-butyl 4-[7-(2-butynyl)-2-chloro-1-(2-cyanobenzyl)-6-oxo-6,7-dihydro-1H-purin-8-yl]piperazine-1-carboxylate obtained in Example 96(a), 10 mg of sodium cyanide and 0.3 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate-water, and the organic layer was washed with water and then with saturated brine. The organic layer was concentrated. The residue was purified by thin layer chromatography (50% ethyl acetate/hexane) to give 6.1 mg of the title compound.
