Procedure
In a Schlenk tube, a suspension of NaBH4 (1.96 g, 51.9 mmol) in 50 mL of absolute ethanol was cooled at 0° C. under nitrogen. A solution of Bu2SnPhI (15.1 g, 34.6 mmol) in ethanol was then added slowly under stirring. After 3 hours at room temperature in the dark, petroleum ether was added, the solution was washed with water and dried over MgSO4. Solvents were eliminated under reduced pressure and the residue was distilled under high vacuum. A colourless oil was obtained (7.2 g, 30.8 mmol).
