Methyl isothiocyanate (62 mg) was added to an ethanol (10 ml) solution of 1-(3-chloro-4-methyl-2-thienyl)cyclopentanecarbohydrazide (200 mg), followed by stirring at 75° C. for 3 hours. The reaction solution was subjected to evaporation under reduced pressure and the resulting crude product washed with ether to obtain 167 mg of 2-{[1-(3-chloro-4-methyl-2-thienyl)cyclopentyl]carbonyl}-N-methylhydrazinecarbothioamide.
