To a mixture of 550 mg of the product of step 1 and 350 mg 4-formylphenylboronic acid in 10 ml 1,2-dimethoxyethane are, 55 mg tetrakis(triphenylphosphine) palladium(0) and 4 ml of a 10% w/w sodium carbonate solution are added and the resulting mixture is heated by microwave for 2 h. The work up is performed by diluting the reaction mixture with water and dichloromethane, separating the phases and extraction of the aqueous phase with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers are dried over sodium sulphate and evaporated. The residue is suspended in ethyl acetate and the resulting mixture is stirred for 2 h at room temperature. The product is collected by filtration and used without further purification.
