To 0.15 g (0.24 mmol) of (S)-3-(4-acetyl-phenyl)-2-{[(S)-1-(3-trifluoromethyl-benzenesulfonyl)-piperidine-2-carbonyl]-amino}-propionic acid benzyl ester in 30 ml of methanol was added 0.030 g of 10% palladium on carbon. The resulting suspension was stirred under 50 psi of hydrogen for 2 hours, after which the suspension was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to provide 0.12 g (0.24 mmol) of the title compound which was used without further purification. The 300 MHz 1H NMR was consistent with the structure. LCMS (M+Na): m/z 551, retention time 3.05 min.
